At the age of 17, Avana Thomas AKA Reality, discovered a talent that would change her life. One day at her high school in Las Vegas, NV, Western, a group of her peers were banging on lockers and rapping. Never being the shy type she jumped in and tried it for the first time. The audience was amazed shouting, "Wow!" and "You tight!" At that moment Reality realized what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She has always written everything from poems to short stories to scripts. The excitement of her new found talent forced her to write incredible songs so early in her career. By the age of 22 she has already established strong fan bases throughout cities such as Los Angeles, CA, Rochester, NY, Chicago, IL, and Las Vegas, NV. She has worked with labels such as Spit Sumthin' Productions, Hood Sent Entertainment, City Kidz Entertainment and DPG. She has also written songs for other underground rappers and singers. Unfortunately, it's difficult to fit in, with her perspective on how she wanted to be represented as a female emcee. "I don't want to have to show skin to get heard. I want to be able to transfer my energy into an audience and get them to listen first, and look later. The important things is that people from any background can relate to my music, feel it and love it. I feel that most have lost touch with what hip hop really is and represents and I want to be able to bring that magic back and make it bigger than it has ever been coming from a female's perspective," Reality states. Within her first year of rapping Reality rapped in a group called "Sky High" with two of her male friends. They tried to figure out what her rap name would be and one of the members came up with Reality. He told her the reason why it fits her is because she knows how to put real-life situations into a song in a way that could make the audience really listen, envision her words and feel how she felt the moment of her writing the song. However, "Sky High" didn't last long. Reality continued to pursue her dream solo and is making this journey to the top look much easier than it really is. Her captivating rhymes, magnetic stage performance and intimidating and raw voice draws the audience into her and makes it extremely difficult to forget who she is. Reality is currently residing in Las Vegas, NV where she continues to work with Spit Sumthin' Productions and Hood Sent Entertainment. She is in progress of releasing her first hit single and taking the music industry by storm. Although, the industry is so hard for female emcees to prosper withing, Reality only plans on earning respect from her peers through her music while maintaining longevity within her succeess. Still so early in her career she has been featured on multiple mixtapes, has performed at highly cirtiqued venues, and has won the love from many fans through her talent, hard work ethic and dedication to her music. Reality says, "I won't stop because I can't. Music is literally my life! I involve myself everyday, paid or not, because it's the way my heart continues to beat.
